About Me

Jean McAulay, CDT

I love dogs! But that doesn't qualify me to train your dog. Because anyone can call herself a dog trainer, you need to know that the person you choose is a qualified trainer.

What is a certified trainer?

Although there are no state or nationally required certifications for dog trainers, several quality education programs provide their own certifications that show an individual has completed a thorough program in dog training.

I earned the title of certified dog trainer through Animal Behavior College. Founded in 1998, Animal Behavior College's in-depth curriculum and supervised mentoring is based on the most current understanding of animal behavior.

To graduate from ABC, I completed in-depth study ranging from basic canine characteristics, breeds and health to obedience training and solving problem behaviors. Next, I completed a several month internship with a seasoned certified dog trainer and  10+ hours as a volunteer dog trainer at a Dallas rescue shelter:  work I continue today.

I served on the Board of Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue in Georgia for six years and have fostered nearly 50 rescue puppies and dogs in my home.

People skills

Some people who love dogs are not so crazy about people. That makes training tough because dog training starts with good communication between an owner and trainer. I love dogs, but I also love working with, supporting and training the people who care for them. I will work with you on your priorities and within your life realities to ensure your dog is a treasured, respectful member of your family.

Before becoming a dog trainer, I worked for 25+ years as a communications professional and consultant and bring that customer focus, professionalism and responsiveness to every client relationship.
